Anthony Price founded Swanbarton, an energy storage consultancy, in 2003 anticipating the need for storage in power systems and focussed on the role of large-scale batteries to provide services to the transmission and distribution systems. In order to create and develop the market for storage he initiated the Electricity Storage Network, the UK’s industry group for electricity storage. He also runs the annual International Flow Battery Forum. Previously, Anthony worked for National Power and Innogy’s energy storage programme.
Anthony’s experience includes developing commercialisation plans with battery manufacturers, business and market analysis for power and network companies, energy storage project development, regulatory advice and due diligence. Anthony’s current project interests include the development of innovative control systems for battery energy storage, local electricity trading and a real time trading platform. He was appointed OBE in the 2021 New Year’s Honours List for services to the Energy Storage Industry.
