Jens Strüker
Prof. Dr. Jens Strüker is the managing director of the Institute of Energy Economics at the Fresenius University of Applied Sciences in Frankfurt, Germany. He received his Ph.D. and habilitation in information systems and economics from University of Freiburg, after working as a visiting researcher at SAP Labs, Palo Alto. Currently, he is supervising several publicly and industry-funded blockchain research projects. Jens authored the study ‘Blockchain in the Energy Sector’ for the German Association of Energy and Water Industries (BDEW) which represents more than 1800 companies. In February, the German Energy Agency and 16 partners published the multi-stakeholder study “Blockchain in the integrated energy transition. Jens led the technical and economic investigations. Recently, he authored the study ‘Digital Real-time Energy Economy - Building Blocks for a market-based Target Model’ for the German business association Economic Council (Wirtschaftsrat der CDU e.V.) which represents more than 11,000 companies. Jens is a regular keynote speaker at events across the world with speeches like ’The Way to a Real-time Energy Economy’ at the 2017 European Commission High-Level Meeting ‘Interoperability to create the Internet of Energy’, ‘The Promise of Blockchain to Change the Utility and Oil & Gas Industries’ at the International SAP Conference for Utilities in Lisbon in 2017 and ‘The Promise of Cryptonetworks to Change the Energy System‘ invited by the New York Association for Energy Economics in June 2018.
