Mark Meyrick
Coming from a background in accountancy and foreign exchange trading, he became Managing Director of ABB’s UK treasury centre. There, he established a power marketing team ahead of the introduction of NETA in 2000.
After four years in energy, he spent twelve years originating emissions reduction projects. This followed the creation of EDF’s emissions trading desk ahead of the launch of the EU Emissions Trading Scheme in 2003.
In 2015, he returned to the energy sector as Trading Director at Good Energy, where he identified the value of flexibility within a renewable generation portfolio. In 2017, he joined Ecotricity with a mandate to develop a flexibility platform and build capability across markets including frequency response, wholesale trading, and the balancing mechanism.
Smart Grid has since developed this platform and now uses it to optimise and dispatch batteries of different sizes, including its own 10 MW co-located asset just north of Bristol.
