James Norman

James Norman is Head of Connections Strategy at National Grid Electricity System Operator (ESO).  James is leading the ESO’s work on developing and implementing longer-term, more fundamental, changes to the current GB connections process. This includes leading the ESO’s GB connections reform project, to facilitate quicker connection to and use of the GB electricity transmission system, in a more coordinated and efficient way, in order to help meet Net Zero ambitions and targets.

James joined the ESO in May 2022 after more than 10 years working for Ofgem, where he gained extensive experience of transmission network development, including onshore and offshore network design and delivery.
