Roger Hollies

Roger’s energy career began with installing a wind turbine on his family’s dairy farm. Today, as a founding member and CTO of Arenko, Roger has spent over a decade designing, building, and operating the UK’s first BESS systems. A vocal leader in the industry and participant in numerous NESO steering groups, helping to shape the standards of the modern energy grid, and is a passionate advocate for the use of automation and adoption rules as code techniques to advance sustainable energy grids worldwide. 

Roger is the architect behind Nimbus, Arenko’s enterprise SaaS platform. He champions the philosophy that as the grid scales with renewables, complexity increases and automation is the only solution. With the Arenko team he pioneered the application of AI in energy optimisation over seven years ago, deploying it long before it became an industry standard, to process 7 billion data points daily to drive decision-making.

Currently overseeing 1GW of co-located and standalone assets across the UK, Germany, and the US, Roger creates the technology that powers market-leading assets for major players like RWE, Ørsted, and Gore Street Capital.
