Patrick Zank

Project Lead, Batteries & Energy Storage Systems European Battery Pass Consortium

After training as an electronics technician, Patrick Zank studied industrial engineering for materials science at the University of Applied Sciences in Aschaffenburg. His main focus was on new manufacturing technologies and their impact on materials testing. Since 2020, he has been working as a project engineer for battery and energy storage systems at VDE , the German Association for Electrical, Electronic & Information Technologies, where he is responsible for technical due diligence and system consulting. He is also an expert at DKE, the German standardization body, where he is involved in the creation and further development of electrotechnical standards, including for the battery passport. He is part of the battery passport consortium supported by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action.
