Ray Arrell

Ray is Associate Director at Regen, an independent mission-based sector of energy insight and expertise focused on transforming our energy system to zero carbon.

Ray has been in the energy sector for 20 years, previously working for a major water utility operating and developing renewable energy assets, before joining Regen in 2017, where he now leads the teams and programmes of work around the future of our energy networks. Ray is also part of the team that manages the Electricity Storage Network, the UK industry association dedicated to support electricity storage. Ray leads the ESN’s work on long duration storage, that culminated in a joint report with LCP Delta commissioned by DESNZ around scenarios for LDES deployment in the UK out to 2050. This report was published in January 2023, alongside an industry consultation on a cap and floor market mechanism to enable investment in LDES in the UK.
