RheEnergise is bringing innovation to pumped energy storage, with a solution called High-Density Hydro®. HD Hydro is a grid-scale energy storage solution, providing 2 to 16 hours of energy storage in the 10MW to 50MW power range. RheEnergise projects work just like traditional pumped-hydro (PHS) but instead of using water, an environmentally benign fluid is used with 2.5x the density of water in a closed loop system. The introduction of a high-density fluid means that projects can be built on small hills rather than mountains, which in turn means there are tens of thousands more suitable sites available. HD Hydro maintains the best-in-class economics associated with PHS while overcoming the multiple challenges associated with PHS: lack of sites; time to build; water abstraction; environmental concerns. RheEnergise’s High-Density Hydro energy storage is ultra-low cost, fast to deploy and globally scalable, facilitating zero-carbon power grids.
